You can set up notifications in Loyalty Notifications.


Configuring Notifications


There are various types of notifications. These are explained separately in sections below.


Please follow steps given below:


1. Login to Merchant Centre.

2. Click Loyalty tab.

3. In Loyalty tab, click Notifications tab. Refer to Figure: Notifications.

Following are the type of Notifications available:
  • When user approaches a redemption
  • Earned Loyalty Points (Account Available)
  • Unclaimed Loyalty Points (No Account)
  • When user reaches 80% of new level
  • Earned Loyalty Points via Referral (Account Available)
  • When user reaches a Redemption Threshold
  • When users points are about to expire
  • When user reaches new tier. Refer to Figure: Notification Types.

Email Preview and edit functionality

To preview email and edit it, please follow steps below:

1. Click on edit icon for the notification you want to preview or edit. Refer to Figure Email Preview.

2. Click HTML to open HTML, and edit your email.

3. Click Save. Refer to Figure: Edit HTML.

Please note
1. You can preview email with variable or with variable values. For preview with variable, click Preview. Refer to Figure: Variable Preview 
2. For preview with variable value, click Filled Preview. You can also send test email to verify the HTML /CSS changes for email content. For test email, provide email ID in and click Send Test Mail. Refer to Figure: Variable Value Preview.

 When user approaches a redemption

When user approaches a redemption

A notification email is sent when user approaches a redemption. This email is sent to the user only once. The calculation is explained with an example below:

Redemption is at 1000 points.
The redemption notification variable is set at 200 points.
Therefore when user reaches more than 800 points, notification email is sent.

When user reaches 80% of new level

The calculation is explained with an example below:


On registering for Loyalty program: User gets 100 points.

To reach level 'A': 1000 points are required.

To reach level 'B': 5000 points are required.


Now, user will get an email when user reaches:

1. 720 points: To reach to level 'A', the difference from registering to level 'A' is 900 points (1000 - 100). And 80% of 900 = 720.

2. 3200 points: To reach to level 'B', from level 'A', the difference is 4000 points (5000 - 1000). And 80% of 4000 = 3200.


Select 'When user reaches 80% of new level' check box, if you want to send this notification.
Earned Loyalty Points via Referral (Account Available)

This notification can be sent only once. Prerequisite for this notification is that a activity should be created in 'Activities' which awards loyalty points to user for referral activity. Refer to Figure: Activities.

When user reaches a Redemption Threshold

You can choose to send notification to users every 15 days of the available redemption options. Select 'When user reaches a Redemption Threshold' check box, if you want to send this notification. You can have a custom email subject, and email body for loyalty notification emails you send. Refer to Figure: Notification Email.

Please note: The loyalty program registration date is counted as start date and notification will be sent after every 15 days from start date.

Unclaimed Loyalty Points (No Account)

A user may earn points without signing up to the loyalty program. If, while earning these points, ShopSocially is able to capture the user's email address, the points are stored in a temporary account against that email ID. A notification can be sent to that email address asking the user to register to the program and when the user signs up with the same email address, the points will be credited to the user's loyalty account.

This will happen when a user earns points through any of the apps which capture the email address ( e.g. Get-an-email, Social Connect, Share-on-Mobile, Share-a-purchase) and also for purchases provided the merchant is passing the customer's email address in the advanced integration.


Select 'Unclaimed Loyalty Points (No Account)' check box, if you want to send notification of the unclaimed points to the user.


You can also customize email subject, and email body HTML.


Earned Loyalty Points (Account Available)


The user can see the points earned on the user's Loyalty Dashboard. However to do so, the user has to login and visit the Loyalty Dashboard.


Check 'Earned Loyalty Points (Account Available)' check box, if you want to send notification via email to user whenever user earns points. You can also customize email subject, and email body HTML.


Refer to Figure: Earned Loyalty Points, which is an example of notification which a user will receive for Earned Loyalty Points (Account Available).

When user reaches new tier

If a user gets to new level, whether upgraded or downgraded, the user will be able to know on the user's Loyalty Dashboard. However to do so, the user has to login and visit the Loyalty Dashboard.


Check 'When user reaches new tier' check box, if you want to send notification via email to user whenever user gets to new level.


When user approaches a redemption

Merchant has the option to send email notification to user when the user is approaching redemption. This notification aims to send an email to user when user crosses threshold points required to redeem redemption(s). 

Notification can be in form of any one of the following types:
1. Can be in number of points remaining. This directly states how far the redemption is from user's current available points.
2. Can be in percentage of points acquired. This  states if user's available points crosses threshold percentage value with respect to points required for a redemption.

When users points are about to expire

This notification sends user whose points are about to expire a mail twice:
  • 30 days before points are about to expire
  • 7 days before points are about to expire. 

Please note: This notification will be available only if you specifically enable it on the notifications dashboard.

Earned Loyalty Points via Referral (Account Available)

Merchant has the option to send email notification to the referrer when the referrer earns Loyalty points via Refer-A-Friend program. Check this option if you wish to send email notification for this. Refer to Figure: Earned Loyalty Points via Referral.

Please note: This email notification is sent only in case where Loyalty activity with specific name 'referral_purchase' is created. For more information please refer to Awarding Loyalty Points Via Refer-A-Friend.
